Rob took over the family’s Harrogate market stall in 1996, becoming the fourth generation to run the business. The stall was very much curtain-focussed, but he was also seen selling the odd peg-bag or even a lacy doyly. He has asked for this not to be made public!
In 1999 the stall became a two-floor high street showroom in Harrogate, steadily moving up-market over the years, eventually employing a ten-strong team of designers and furnishing some of North Yorkshire’s finest properties.
Rob anticipated changing times for high street retailers, and in 2006 launched the Mint Commercial Interiors brand to develop the supply to the contract market. This ran alongside the shop until the leap was made in 2009 focus fully on the commercial market and the business moved to office premises in Leeds.
Rob has as BSc (Hons) in Management and Marketing of Textiles and sits on the management board of his local housing association.
